Make Nails Dry Faster

5 Simple Ways to Dry Nail Polish Faster

There’s nothing more annoying than spending half an hour getting your nails just right only to have them ruined the minute you put your hand into your purse or need to itch that place behind your ear. Luckily, there are lots of ways to speed up what can otherwise seem infernally long drying times. To check out our easy fixes, keep reading.

Blow it up
Salons use fans to help speed up drying, but your hair dryer works just as well. The secret is to put it on the “cool” setting. Heat actually keeps polish from firming, so giving your digits a shot of cold air is much more helpful.

Freeze it out
Since cold hardens polish, ice water baths are also a great setting trick. Before you start painting your nails, fill a mixing bowl with ice cubes and run cold water over the top. Then, when you’re finished painting, dip your nails in for about a minute. This is a great way to help protect against divots, since it helps solidify polish all the way through, not just on top. The opposite also holds: if you’re having trouble removing polish, soaking your hands in warm water will make it easier.

Spray it down
You can get nail-drying spray at the drugstore, and it really does help your polish set in a couple of minutes. But Pam (and other cooking oil aerosols) legendarily does the job as well. Just wait a few minutes after you spray it on and rinse your hands so you don’t smell like canola oil.

Thin it out
Instead of putting on one or two coats of thick polish, apply three extremely thin coats, and let each dry for a couple of minutes before you layer on the next. It might seem like it slows down your manicure, but it actually makes overall drying time much faster.

Top it off
Using a quick-dry topcoat is always smart, because it helps keep everything in place and protects your polish. The only caveat is that the still-liquid polish underneath can move around, resulting in lumps or ripples, so don’t treat it as a cure-all.

Switchboard Answering service (old model)

Hello dear Readers,

When I was young, long ago, and I was 30 years old in 1980, my 2 young children, my husband, our little house, our little yard, finally a nice suburban family life, specifically in St-Eustache, Quebec, Canada.  I had one idea in mind, work from home. Install a business in my basement. But at that time I didn’t know to start a business without costing me an arm and a leg. So I thought, perhaps an answering service. Young  people might not know it today, it no longer exists. It was a big board with telephone lines to take messages for customers who needed this service and in those years it was quite popular. Cell phones, answering machines, voice mailboxes were not yet invented.  After having made a research on telephone lines switchboard system did not give me any positive result since this was too expensive and finally  it was better for me.

Acrylic nails covered with nail polish

By a summer day, my sister stopped at home to show me her new nails. It was new in Quebec to have acrylic nails, there was no artificial nails or artificial tips for having long nails. It was with a form foil and acrylic. It formed the nail with the liquid and acrylic powder. That’s when I told my sister, ‘yes this is it, I want to learn to do nails and offer this service from my home’.

But in those days was not very profitable because very rarely did the women do their nails. So I had to resign and do nails to my sisters, to my friends and to myself. Not very profitable! So I had to go back to work as a   secretary. But nowadays, you’re lucky ladies because you can do as I do now, and start your business in the comfort  in the comfort of your home. Isn’t it wonderful !

Secrets to cure UV Gel Artificial Nails

March 8th, 2011
Hello to all,
This week is the 7th and last secret to proper curing UV gel.   Next week I shall give you a new theme to inform you about the terminology of nails, as for example ‘ what the cuticle and where is the cuticle’.
Let’s see now the last secret to proper curing UV gel.

Secret  # 7

UV gels can be over-cured

More isn’t always better! A higher intensity UVA nail lamp can over-cure UV gels designed for use with lower intensity lamps. For example, with too much UVA intensity, the UV gel may cure too rapidly and over heat and seriously burn client’s nail beds. All UV gels harden and undergo the same “exothermic” or “heat releasing” processes during cure, so this is true for all UV gels. It’s not just a marketing gimmick; it’s based on scientific fact: always use the UVA nail lamp that was designed for the UV gel product of your choice.

Now you can appreciate the vast difference between “cure” and “properly cure”. It’s far more important than many would imagine. If UV gel nails aren’t properly cured, the results could range from lifting to cracking to air pockets to allergic reactions and more. Of course, your clients need not worry because you’ve read and reread the Seven Secrets. Use this knowledge wisely and prosper.

Oxygen in the air prevents the UV gel molecules in the top most layer from linking together to create hard polymers, so that part remains sticky and gooey… UVA light will cure the UV gel into a durable artificial nail, as long as it isn’t applied too thickly.

Feel free to give me your feedback or ask questions. I will gladly read and respond.                                                                                                                                                                                      Thank you for reading me faithfully.       Nicole B.   www.jb-nails.com

Secret # 6

UV Gels can be under-cured

All UV gels solidify  after they reach 50-55 per cent cure.  Just because they have hardened and look cured, it doesn’t mean they’re  ‘ properly cured’.   Undercured UV gel nails will be proned to staining, discoloration, lifting, breakage and increased risk for clients to develop product-related allergies.

For example, if a client complains of nail beds that feel  ‘warm’  hours after the service or underneath the nail plate feels  ‘itchy’  or if the nail plate is partially separated from the nail bed, these are all possible signs of developing skin allergy.

Undercured dusts and inhibition layers are more likely to cause skin allergy; as always, direct skin contact with both should be avoided.  Other signs of undercuring are visible:  small voids or air pockets underneath the artificial nail, loss of clarity or a cloudy nail, a ticker than normal sticky surface layer, or surfaces look dull or have sports wehre the coating was too easily wiped or filed away.
